Study The Stars (shown here) our youngster by leading first season sire Due Diligence and our Swiss Spirit filly are now both in work at Sylvester Kirk’s Lambourn yard. They joined the yard just before Christmas and although early days, Sylvester reports our colt as ‘ a very nice horse’ and that our filly is also going well. It’ll be a few weeks before we can really make any judgements on progress when we’ll arrange a stable visit to watch them working with the rest of the stable’s youngsters.
Our colt Study The Stars and filly Eaux De Vie have now both been ‘backed’ and are now being ridden away at the stables of renowned horse whisperer Gary Witherford. Gary’s son Craig has been doing the work with our two youngsters who were being ridden within 5 days of arriving in the yard. Gary, who helped Eaux De Vie’s dam Delagoa Bay overcome her aversion to starting stalls allowing her to go on to win 5 races on the flat, said “The youngsters are both doing and riding very well”. They will now both be transferred to Sylvester Kirk’s yard at Cedar Lodge in Upper Lambourn before Christmas to take their next steps towards the racetrack
Lafontaine is 1 of 14 runners declared for the 4.30 at Lingfield on Thursday 30th over 6 furlongs where she will be ridden but the yard’s apprentice Gary Mahon who also rides her every day. Whilst she’s been going well at home she’s sure to need the first run (as do all Sylvester’s juveniles on debut) especially as she’s drawn wide in stall 13 of 14 runners but we’ll hope for some encouragement for the future and see her finish her race off well. Please call 01559 363763 – or email- by 4pm on Wednesday about availability of owners’ badges
The winning suggested name will win a 10% share in her first season in training with Sylvester Kirk plus 10% of any prizemoney she wins during that time. Our lovely filly (stable name Pitstop after Penelope Pitstop – because she dashes around the fields coming to an abrupt stop before setting off again) is by leading UK stallion Swiss Spirit and out of our multiple winning mare Delagoa Bay.
Naming competition now closed.
